(ARTICLE) BTS donates 100 million won to the Sewol Ferry Tragedy 416 Family Conference

Big Hit Entertainment has donated 100 million won to the Sewol Ferry Tragedy 416 Family Conference.

BTS members and their company, Big Hit Entertainment, donated to the 416 Family Conference, which is comprised of family members of the victims of the Sewol Ferry tragedy. Each of the 7 members donated 10 million won, for a total of 70 million won, and their company donated an additional 30 million won for a total of 100 million won.

It is a deeply meaningful action for BTS to donate such a large amount of money to the grieving families of the Sewol Ferry tragedy, especially as they are in a disadvantageous situation in which there has surfaced a cultural blacklist in relation to the Sewol Ferry disaster. Previous to this, at the time of the tragedy, BTS fans also donated relief goods to Jindo. Through these various actions, both the fans and the artists have shown warm actions.

In particular, with an intent to keep the donation quiet, neither BTS nor their company revealed any information about the donations. Additionally, BTS' side intentionally did not alert the media to their intent to donate, stating that they only wanted to give some help, however small, to the grieving families of the Sewol Ferry tragedy.

BTS will begin their full-scale world tour with their "Wings Tour Seoul Concert" on February 18 and 19 at the Seoul Guro-gu Gocheok Sky Dome.
